TASC District III Elections Campaign Guidelines
To run for an office in District III your school must have registered and answered roll call at the afternoon session of the last two conferences preceding the election conference. The candidate school must have filed all required paperwork with the current Vice-President school postmarked on or before January 20th. It is HIGHLY encouraged that you submit paperwork electronically and request a read receipt.
Campaigning may only be done in approved areas of the host school.
No campaigning may be done inside the general session area.
Posters, etc. may only be placed in the cafeteria or on the walls around the registration area.
Please check with the spring conference host as to the limit of the number of posters, banners, or signs you may hang and how/where you may display them. You must take all of them down before you leave.
You may campaign until the beginning of the opening general session.
You are responsible for cleaning up any materials you hand out or hang up.
Please be respectful of the host school and take down all signs, etc. before you leave, and make sure you pick up any materials you may see on the floor, etc.
You may not actively campaign inside the auditorium or gym (no handouts, candy, etc.). Also please remember that nothing may be thrown from the stage before, during, or after your skit.
All props and other skit materials should be ready to go. A host school escort will show you where you may place these items behind the stage when you register. Remember that your entire skit, including nomination and acceptance, must not be longer than 7 minutes. The timer begins when your nominator says his or her first word. You will need to prearrange a nominating school and a seconding school. It is a good idea to type up what you want them to say and sent it to that school in advance, but bring an extra copy of their nominating and seconding speech in case they forget the one you sent. Keep in mind that mistake, technical difficulties, and glitches occur and plan accordingly.
If you have questions about facilities and/or campaign guidelines at the spring conference please refer to the District III Constitution. If you still have questions, please contact the
vice-president school advisor or the conference host school advisor.
