MESSAGE FROM TERRY HAM

I want to be able to announce how much (with a $ amount) Texas student councils donated in terms of food, clothing, blood, hours to our communities this year.  Please send in that total for your district.  Also, I want to be able to say specifically how much was given to victims of wild fires if possible since that was a special call this year.  If you had schools in your district that were fire victims, would you see if they can give you a total of what they received.  If I look at what stuco’s report as donated and what schools say they received, I can piece together a pretty good picture of what was given. 

Also, Ann Postlewaite from Minnesota is making a presentation on community service provided by student councils at the California Association of Directors of Activities.  I would like to give her our totals to include.  I also want to report them to NASC for their newsletter and Facebook page.

Please remind folks in your district about the sample press releases on the TASC website.  I have one there for Advanced Workshops.  It would be really simple to take one of those and adapt it for your events.  PR is a good thing!

If you have not done your membership drive, perhaps you could have a list and ask every school at your spring conference or your project verification to contact one school that is not a member.
